Important Notice: Pitt Park Off-Leash Area Closure
For dog owners planning a visit to Wentworth Falls, it is crucial to know that the designated off-leash area at Pitt Park is currently closed until further notice as of April 2025 for major upgrade works.
While Pitt Park has traditionally been a much-loved, unfenced time-share oval for off-leash fun, the council is undertaking significant drainage and irrigation projects. It is recommended to check the Blue Mountains City Council website for the latest updates on when the park will reopen.
Pitt Park in Wentworth Falls is a great, spacious option for local dog owners, centred on a large, unfenced sports oval. This is a time-share facility, meaning the off-leash area on the “bottom park” is available for use at any time, unless organised sport is in progress. The huge grassy field is perfect for dogs with reliable recall who need space for a proper run. The park benefits from the amenities of a sports ground, including a drinking fountain, public toilets, and seating.
This is a well-loved community hub, and access is easy with dedicated off-road parking available. The council provides poo bags, but it’s always wise to have a spare. There is no lighting on the oval for after-dark play. The adjacent playground is a dog-prohibited zone. The fields are known to get quite wet and boggy after periods of heavy rain, something visitors often comment on.
Insider Tip: This is a very active sports park, especially for local soccer clubs. To get the most out of an off-leash run without interruption, a weekday visit is your best bet.
