Scenic landscape of Moore Park in Sydney on a bright sunny day, featuring a spacious green sports oval with white goal posts and healthy grass showing light wear. The park is framed by mature trees with a clear view of the iconic Sydney CBD skyline and Sydney Tower Eye in the background.

Got a dog with boundless energy? A ball-obsessed Kelpie? A rescue who just needs to run? Welcome to their heaven. Moore Park is the athletic heart of the Parklands, an urban expanse of vast, flat fields purpose-built for the high-energy dog who needs an uninterrupted, full-speed run.

Why You’ll Love Moore Park

While Centennial Park is for exploring, Moore Park is all about focused, athletic fun. It’s the perfect spot for a dog who loves to chase a ball or frisbee.

  • Vast Open Fields: This is a paradise for fetch. The huge, level sports ovals offer incredible sightlines, so you can let your dog really go for it while always keeping them in view.
  • Focused Exercise: It’s the perfect spot for a quick but intense workout. If you don’t have time for a long, meandering walk, a 30-minute session here will have your dog happily tired out.
  • Urban Convenience: Its location right next to the Entertainment Quarter (EQ) and major transport routes makes it one of the most accessible large-scale dog parks in the city.
Moore park's vast, open fields offer perfect sightlines, making it a safe paradise for epic games of fetch.

Navigating the Park: The Golden Rule

The key to using Moore Park is a conditional one. The main sporting fields are incredible off-leash areas, but there’s a catch:

Off-leash access is only permitted when the fields are NOT in use for organised sport or training.

If you see a team setting up cones or a game is underway, you’ll need to leash your dog or move to a different, unoccupied field. Here’s a full breakdown:

Pro-Tips for a Perfect Visit

Parking Strategy

Parking here is different from the other parks. Paid parking is the standard, so be prepared.

  • Best Bet: The most convenient option is the multi-story Wilson Parking station at the Entertainment Quarter (EQ), which gives you easy access to Moore Park East.
  • On-Street: Metered on-street parking is sometimes available along Driver Avenue, but only on non-event days.

Amenities

Water bubblers and waste bins are typically located near the main sporting facilities and amenity blocks. As always in the Parklands, you must bring your own poo bags.

Crucial Tip: Check for Stadium Events!

Before you even think about heading to Moore Park, always check the event schedule for the SCG and Allianz Stadium. On a major event day, the entire precinct is a nightmare of road closures, exorbitant event parking fees, and huge crowds. A quick Google search can save you from a very frustrating trip.

Our Recommended Gear for Moore Park

Durable Fetch Toy

You’ll see a lot of the regulars here using a durable fetch toy like this one. It’s built to last and perfect for making the most of the huge open field at this park.

Dog GPS Tracker

The five seconds of panic when you can’t see your dog in an unfenced park are the worst. A Tractive GPS tracker provides real-time location and eliminates that fear.

Poop Bag Dispenser

This park doesn’t supply bags, so a leash-mounted dispenser is a must-have to avoid getting caught out.
