Cinnamon the Akita and Milky the Samoyed at off-leash dog parks around Sydney, from fenced parks to harbour beaches.

Only Off-Leash Dog Parks, Checked in Person

A lot of dog park lists are scraped from Google Maps, so they’re full of ordinary parks where your dog has to stay on lead. Every park on this site is a council-approved off-leash area, and we’ve been to nearly every Sydney one ourselves.

100% Off-Leash

If dogs can’t run off leash there, it isn’t listed. Some parks are off-leash at set times only, and we show those hours.

We’ve Been There

We’ve visited nearly every Sydney park listed here with our own dogs. The photos on nearly all Sydney dog park pages are ones we took at the park.

Amenities Checked On Site

Fencing, gates, water, shade, bins and parking are confirmed in person. We don’t copy them from a map listing.

What’s in Every Park Guide

Fencing, Terrain and Shade

Is the area fully fenced, and is there a double-gated airlock entry? What’s the ground like underfoot, grass, dirt or a mix of both? Is there shade in the middle of the day, or only along the boundary? We answer all three before you drive anywhere.

Off-Leash Hours and Council Rules

Off-leash rules change from council to council, and plenty of parks are off-leash only at set times. Where a council sets hours, we list them. Where a park runs 24 Hours, 7 Days, we say so.

Water, Parking and Amenities

We cover parking, drinking water, seating, bins and poo bag dispensers, and we say plainly when something isn’t there. If an area is unfenced or sits close to a road, that’s on the page too, because it changes whether you need reliable recall before you unclip the lead.

How We Check Each Park

We’ve visited nearly every Sydney dog park on this site ourselves. We walk the fence line, test the gates, find the tap, note where the shade falls and take the photos you see on the page. Before a park goes on the site, we confirm with the council that it’s an off-leash area. For the few we haven’t reached yet, mostly in regional NSW, we work from council information, aerial imagery and recent ground-level photos, and if something can’t be confirmed, we say so. Parks change, too. A fence goes up, a tap gets removed, or the off-leash hours shift. When a visitor tells us something’s different, we check it and update the page.

Common Questions

Is every park on this site off-leash?

Yes. We only list council-approved off-leash areas. Directories built from Google Maps tend to include any park that mentions dogs, including ones where your dog has to stay on lead. We leave those out. Some parks are off-leash only at certain times, and the hours are on each park page.

Have you actually been to these dog parks?

Nearly all the Sydney ones, yes, usually with Cinnamon and Milky in tow. The photos are ours, and the fencing, water, shade and parking details come from what we saw at the park. The handful we haven’t visited yet are clearly based on council and aerial information.

How do I find a fenced dog park near me?

Use the search at the top of this page and tick the Fully Fenced filter, then either type your suburb or press Near Me to sort by distance from where you are standing. Every result tells you whether the area is fenced before you open the page.

Are Sydney dog parks off-leash all day?

Some are, some aren’t. Off-leash hours are set by each council, so a park in one suburb can run 24 Hours, 7 Days while the next suburb over restricts off-leash access to morning and evening windows. Each park page lists the hours that apply to that specific park.

What should I check before visiting a new dog park?

Fencing and gates first, especially if your dog is still learning recall. After that, how close the area sits to a road, whether there’s drinking water and shade for the time of day you’re going, and where you’ll park. All of it is on the park page.

Do you cover dog parks outside Sydney?

Yes. Alongside Greater Sydney the directory covers the Blue Mountains and regional New South Wales, so you can find an off-leash park near you anywhere in the state. Pick a region above to see what’s listed.
