This guide covers all the fenced parks, incredible beaches, and quiet dog-friendly walking trail reserves across the entire MidCoast. Safe & Secure: All Fenced Dog Parks

The MidCoast offers a few highly valuable enclosed areas. If you have an escape artist or a dog that loves a canine agility course, these secure hubs in Tuncurry, Harrington, and Taree are your best options.

Beach Street Reserve Fenced Dog Park (Tuncurry)

📍 Address: Beach St, Tuncurry NSW 2428, Australia

If you need a fenced puppy play area, this is the absolute best spot in the Forster and Tuncurry region. It is a highly social leash-free reserve that boasts a proper canine agility course with jumps and tunnels. Best of all, it has a completely separate zone just for small or timid dogs. It sits right near the rockpool area, making it a great destination for a family day out.

Insider Tip: Filtered water stations are provided inside the park. Just double-check the bottom clearance of the entry gates before unclipping tiny dogs, as small gaps can sometimes appear.

Dolphin Park Crescent Reserve (Harrington)

📍 Address: 2 Dolphin Park Cres, Harrington NSW 2427

Following extensive upgrades, this 24/7 park is now a premium, fully fenced destination. Outfitted with excellent canine agility course equipment and fresh drinking water stations, it is the safest place in Harrington for your dog to burn off energy. It features a hard-sealed concrete path connecting the car park directly to the gates, making it perfectly accessible for wheelchairs and prams.

Insider Tip: Make the most of the high-quality agility equipment here for focused training, away from the distractions of the open beaches. Public restrooms are conveniently located near the bus stop.

Saxby Park Fenced Dog Park (Taree)

📍 Address: Stevenson St, Taree NSW 2430

Saxby Park is a heavily used urban hub in Taree. It offers a dedicated internal fenced zone for small breeds and proper agility hurdles. It also features nighttime lighting, which is a massive bonus for winter evenings. However, it is vital to know that while the internal play pens are fenced, the rear boundary facing Browns Creek is completely open.

Insider Tip: Do not unclip your dog’s leash until you are securely inside the inner gates! The open creek boundary at the back is a major flight risk for dogs with high prey drive.

Coastal Freedom: All Off-Leash Beaches

The MidCoast is globally famous for its shoreline. From massive 4WD corridors to pristine, hidden bays, these off-leash dog beach locations are paradise. Most have strict timeshare hours: so read the signs!

One Mile Beach (Forster)

📍 Address: 122 Strand Street, Forster NSW 2428

The northern end of One Mile Beach is a breathtaking expanse of deep white sand. It features a new step-free boardwalk, making it highly accessible for wheelchairs and prams. Note the strict times: off-leash play is only permitted from 5 am to 9 am, and 5 pm to 8 pm. Outside these hours, dogs must be on a lead.

Insider Tip: Set your navigation for the Forster Golf Club car park to ensure you access the correct off-leash northern zone (the southern end is strictly on-leash).

Boomerang Beach (Pacific Palms)

Boomerang Beach is an iconic surfing destination. The southern and mid sections of the beach are designated off-leash zones during standard timeshare hours (5-9 am and 5-8 pm). The council provides excellent waste facilities here. It is an amazing spot for a high-energy morning run alongside crystal clear waves.

Insider Tip: The lush forest directly behind the sand looks inviting, but it is part of Booti Booti National Park. Dogs are strictly prohibited in the bushland to protect local wildlife.

Other Fantastic MidCoast Dog Beaches:

• Bennetts Beach (Hawks Nest): A massive 3.8-kilometer stretch allowing dawn to dusk off-leash play. Beware of 4WD traffic.
• Sandbar / Cellito Beach (Smiths Lake): A remote, wilderness adventure accessed via a beautiful rainforest boardwalk (timed access applies).
• Blueys Beach (Pacific Palms): The southern end offers upscale coastal scenery and rolling surf (timed access applies).
• Nine Mile Beach (Tuncurry): A sprawling 4WD corridor with miles of soft sand. Reliable recall is mandatory here.
• Manning Point Beach (Manning Point): Keep strictly to the southern zone (timed). The northern dunes are lethal due to 1080 fox baits and protected bird nesting sites.
• Yacaaba Peninsula (Hawks Nest): A wild, rugged shoreline trek at the remote end of Bennetts Beach. Bring your own water!

Open Space: All Unfenced Reserves

If you prefer green grass over sand, these open parks offer a great dog-friendly walking trail experience. These locations are entirely unfenced.

Pipers Bay Foreshore Reserve (Forster)

📍 Address: 10 Pipers Bay Drive, Forster NSW 2428

This scenic leash-free reserve offers flat grass and easy access to the still waters of Pipers Creek. It is much quieter than the ocean beaches and features clean public toilets. It serves as a fantastic route for a morning stroll.

Insider Tip: There are no fresh water taps on the grass. Always bring a bottle to keep your dog hydrated, and pack insect repellent in summer as the mosquitoes love the tidal creek.

Brambles Reserve (Tarbuck Bay)

📍 Address: 28 The Lakes Way, Tarbuck Bay NSW 2428

Situated right on Smiths Lake, this 6 am to 8 pm off-leash area offers sloping grass and calm, warm water for a swim. It shares the space with an active boat ramp, meaning it requires highly obedient dogs. The picnic tables and BBQs make it an idyllic waterside escape.

Insider Tip: Keep your dog strictly away from the concrete incline to avoid accidents with reversing boat trailers. Bring your own drinking water so they don’t ingest the estuarine lake water.
