This central and recently upgraded sports facility in Botany is a 2.7-hectare sports ground designated as a 24/7 off-leash area. Its key amenities are undermined by the significant safety hazard of an unfenced boundary on a major road.

Key Park Features & Amenities

The park’s major strength is its upgraded amenities. However, its location on the busy Botany Street is a major safety hazard, and dogs are prohibited from the playground and off-leash on the sports fields during organised use.

For the Dogs:

  • CRITICAL SAFETY WARNING: Unfenced on Major Road. The entire reserve is unfenced, and its location on the busy Botany Street is a significant safety hazard. This park is only suitable for dogs with rock-solid recall.
  • Modern Water Bubbler: A fantastic, modern amenity is the new water bubbler with a dedicated, integrated dog bowl.
  • 24/7 Off-Leash Access (Conditional): Dogs can be off-leash in the general area at all times, but not on the sports fields during games or within 10 metres of the playground.

For the Humans:

  • Upgraded Public Toilets: The recently upgraded amenities building includes new public toilets and an accessible toilet.
  • Limited Street Parking: Parking is limited to the surrounding streets.
  • Limited Shade: Be aware that there is limited shade available throughout the park.

Insider Tip: Great Amenities, But Safety First

The new water bubbler is a fantastic feature. However, the danger from the unfenced boundary on Botany Street is a foreseeable risk. This park should only be used by well-trained local dogs with perfect recall.

Our Recommended Gear for Paine Reserve

Durable Fetch Toy

You’ll see a lot of the regulars here using a durable fetch toy like this one. It’s built to last and perfect for making the most of the huge open field at this park.

Dog GPS Tracker

The five seconds of panic when you can’t see your dog in an unfenced park are the worst. A Tractive GPS tracker provides real-time location and eliminates that fear.

Poop Bag Dispenser

This park doesn’t supply bags, so a leash-mounted dispenser is a must-have to avoid getting caught out.
