If your dog needs a huge, open space for a proper, full-speed run, Rawson Park in Mosman is a fantastic choice. The designated off-leash area is a massive, unfenced sports oval that operates on a time-share basis with specific seasonal hours, making it a hugely popular destination for before and after work exercise.

Key Park Features & Amenities

This park is incredibly practical, especially for those early morning or evening visits. Its absolute best feature is the powerful floodlighting, a rare find that makes off-leash play in the dark feel safe and accessible. Just remember that access is time-restricted and you’ll need to be fully self-sufficient with your own water and poo bags to ensure a hassle-free visit.

For the Dogs:

  • CRITICAL SAFETY WARNING: Unfenced Oval. The entire off-leash sports oval is unfenced. This park is only suitable for well-trained dogs with rock-solid recall.
  • Seasonal Off-Leash Hours: This is a time-share park. The off-leash hours are Winter (April-Sept): 4 PM – 10 AM and Summer (Oct-March): 5 PM – 9 AM.
  • Huge Grassy Field: The vast, well-maintained oval provides an incredible amount of space for long-distance fetch and socialising.
  • Bring Your Own Supplies: You must come fully prepared. There are no water stations or poo bag dispensers on the oval, so you have to bring your own water, a bowl, and bags.

For the Humans:

  • Powerful Floodlighting: The entire field is brilliantly illuminated by powerful floodlights, making it a highly valued and safe spot for playing off-leash in the dark.
  • Large On-Site Car Park: Access is very straightforward, with a large, dedicated on-site car park located right off Bradleys Head Road.
  • Grandstand & Toilets: You can relax in the sheltered seating of the grandstand, and there are public toilets available at the amenities block.

Insider Tip: Be Self-Sufficient for a Smooth Visit

Because this is such an active park with no amenities on the oval itself, always keep a pre-filled water bottle and a stash of poo bags in your car. Being self-sufficient is the key to a great visit.
