For dog owners living in the very heart of Darlinghurst, Rosebank Park is a functional and vital local spot, best described as an urban “pocket park.” Its most important feature is its status as a designated 24/7 off-leash area, offering a much-needed, unfenced patch of green for a quick leg stretch and a social sniff for nearby apartment-dwelling dogs.

Key Park Features & Amenities

This is a very basic park that serves its purpose for a quick visit. It has a bench and waste bins, but you’ll need to bring your own water for your dog. The biggest challenge is the extremely limited, permit-based street parking, solidifying its status as a true locals-only destination.

For the Dogs:

  • CRITICAL SAFETY WARNING: Unfenced Park. The entire off-leash space is a small, unfenced, elevated grassy area. It is only suitable for well-behaved dogs with rock-solid recall.
  • Convenient Grassy Patch: While not a destination for a long run, it serves a crucial purpose as a convenient place for a sniff and socialisation.
  • Bring Your Own Water: It’s important for visitors to know there is no dedicated dog water station, so you should always bring your own water and a bowl.

For the Humans:

  • Extremely Challenging Parking: As expected for the area, parking is a significant challenge, with extremely limited and permit-based on-street parking.
  • Basic Amenities: You will find waste bins on-site to help keep the area clean and a single bench.

Insider Tip: The Perfect Pit-Stop Before a Coffee

This park is tiny and very local, making it a great spot for a quick, reliable toilet break for your pup. Its real value is its proximity to the many dog-friendly cafes on Victoria Street, like Una’s, where you can sit outside after your visit.
