Belmont Dog Park (Under the Bridge)

Tucked away underneath the Settlement Road bridge, this urban spot is incredibly practical. Because of the bridge overhead, it provides built-in shelter from the harsh summer sun and pouring rain. It features fully enclosed active and passive zones, complete with agility gear and sand pits for digging. They recently swapped the grass for gravel to stop the area from turning into a swamp.

Insider Tip: Check the weather. While the bridge keeps the rain off, the park sits right next to the Barwon River. If Geelong has had massive storms, the river can rise and flood the area, so it might be closed after heavy weather events.

Hovells Creek Reserve Fenced Park (Lara)

If you live out towards Lara, this is your go-to secure spot. It feels much more like a natural bush walk than a basic pen, surrounded by mature pine trees that cast deep shade. It offers professional-grade double-gated airlocks, a passive dog area, and some fantastic built-in agility ramps. There are reliable water taps on-site, so you don’t need to lug a heavy bottle from the car.
